The Government promotes advantages of Costa Rica meetings & incentives tourism

The Costa Rican Government seeks to promote the country as a preferred destination for European tourism of congresses and incentives. The benefits and advantages of Costa Rica conventions and conferences tourism have been exposed in the EIBTM in Barcelona (Spain), where the Costa Rican Tourism Bureau (ICT) has a stand for visitors. During four days the Costa Rican delegation, formed by the ICT staff and 14 national companies, will be giving information to visitors, and people of thousands of foreign companies who also attend the activity. The main objective is to attract attention of European companies and business to consider the Costa Rica seminars and congress tourism as a beneficial possibility for them. According to organizers nearly 14,000 professionals from worldwide travel industry attend the international event. That is enough reason for ICT to be present in Barcelona to show some results of the efforts to position the Costa Rica conference tourism on the top of the preferred destinations list. The Costa Rican authorities seek to strengthen strategies to position the Costa Rica incentives, conferences and convention tourism sector as an attractive option for the European market at the EIBTM, which is considerate the leading exhibition for the conference, incentives, events, business travel and meetings industry.  The 14 local companies present in Spain, work to promote hotels, travel packages and some other benefits and conditions that Costa Rica offers to attract this tourism sector. For the Costa Rican Minister of Tourism, Allan Flores, Costa Rica's participation in this exhibition respond to the marketing strategies developed by the country-oriented to diversification and to attract dynamic destinations and markets such as the European. The construction of the new National Convention Centre and Exhibition, in San José, is one more reason to promote the advantages that the Costa Rica meetings and conference tourism can be offers to the international markets. Tourism is the main economic activity in Costa Rica. Last year the country received 2.1 million visitors, which generated foreign currency for 2,000 million dollars, according to official information.
